MSB School District Shaw Elementary Access Improvements

  • Description:
    This project will construct access improvements to and from Shaw Elementary and Birchtree Charter school. It will also complete the connection between Foxtrot Avenue and Paradise Lane.
  • Benefits:
    The purpose is to reduce school traffic congestion and increase safety for students, parents, staff, and the traveling public.
  • Status:
    Phase 1 will complete the traffic and safety study and construct the Foxtrot connection to Paradise. Phase 2 will upgrade Foxtrot and install intersection improvements at Paradise and Wasilla Fishhook.
  • Cost:
    Estimated total cost: $12,000,000.
  • Schedule:
    Phase 1 will be constructed in fall of 2026 at the same time as the Birchtree Charter school. Phase 2 construction is anticipated in 2027 or 2028.
