The Burma Road Personal Use Firewood Area opens December 8, 2022. The harvest area is on 20-acres of Borough forestland located west of Burma Road about half a mile south of the Kuster Drive intersection, within tax parcel 16N04W10A002. Beetle-killed and damaged spruce and live standing sawtimber greater than seven inches (7”) in diameter may be harvested during this offering. All dead standing and dead down timber may also be harvested.

A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land and Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Mon-Fri, beginning Wednesday, December 8, 2022 at the Borough Administration Building located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer, AK  99645. The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site and is valid for the calendar year in which it is issued. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of 3 cords per household per year from this location with a total of 10 cords from all Matanuska Susitna Borough PUFA’s.

Harvesting of timber in this area will remove fuel wood and increate forest growth while providing a personal use firewood area within the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

This permit is non-transferable to other MSB permitted Personal Use Firewood Areas.  Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7869 prior to going in the permit area; or if you have any questions.
