Plan Overview
The Fuller Lake, Lake Management Plan (LMP) was adopted by the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly on August 19, 2025.
The Fuller Lake LMP provides general information about the lake, along with the legal framework the Borough uses to regulate waterbodies within its boundaries. The Issues Summary outlines the intent behind the regulations included in the Fuller Lake LMP by reflecting the public comments received during the planning process. The Goals section highlights how the Fuller Lake community shaped the regulations and future vision for Fuller Lake.
Plan Justification
Fuller Lake is located within the Meadow Lakes Community Council. According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), the lake is approximately 39 acres in size, with a mean depth of 5 feet 9 inches. Fuller Lake supports recreational opportunities and fish habitat, contributing to the quality of life for nearby residents and visitors.
The Fuller Lake LMP was initiated in June 2024 after residents expressed interest in developing a management plan to balance recreational use, environmental protection, and neighborhood quality of life. As with the other lake management plans across the Borough, this plan was created in response to diverse recreational uses that can sometimes create conflict.
The LMP process is community-driven, residents must initiate the plan, and once underway, they work collaboratively to determine the regulations they believe are appropriate for their lake. Borough Planning Department staff provide research, drafting, and neutral facilitation to ensure the process reflects the community’s vision while aligning with Borough code.
