Notice: GPRA Trail Closure During Arctic Winter Games

Due to the upcoming Arctic Winter Games and their use of the ski trails, the Mat-Su Borough is closing the Government Peak Recreation Area trail system to regular public use from March 10 – 15. This closure will include all skiing, biking, and hiking trails but will reopen on March 16. We thank you for your patience as we enthusiastically welcome these athletes to the Mat-Su. Spectators are welcome to attend on foot, no skis, and only within designated spectator areas. Only volunteers, coaches, officials, and athletes may be in non-spectator-designated areas. Groomed trails will still be open at Independence Mine, Archangel Road, and the Moose Range for your enjoyment.  Thank you for your understanding.

If you have any questions, contact the MSB at 907-861-8578.
