Wasilla Creek Flooding

Flooding is occurring along Wasilla Creek in the area of Roy Circle to South Lower Road. Over the past several days, creek levels have exceeded the banks, impacting nearby properties and overtopping portions of local roads.

The Borough has responded and is actively monitoring conditions. Staff have inspected downstream culverts and bridges to ensure they remain clear and that water is able to flow where infrastructure exists.

At this time, water is flowing across the surface with limited options for mitigation. Ongoing impacts will largely depend on weather conditions, as ice within the creek and floodplain is redirecting water.

Borough staff will continue monitoring and ensuring that infrastructure does not restrict water flow where possible.
