Fire Code Application for Fire Protection Systems
A plan review will be required on all new fire systems whether the system is required or not.
A plan review will be required for fire sprinkler systems under the following conditions:
- If five or more sprinkler heads are added, or if five or more heads are relocated from one branch line to another branch line
- When ten percent or more of the heads on the system are relocated for any reason
- If a Backflow device is added to the system.
- If there is an addition or relocation of ANY heads in the original remote hydraulic design area or the remote hydraulic design area changes
- Pipe schedule systems must be plan reviewed if the changes will affect pipe size anywhere other than on a branch line
- Modification or replacement of fire pump components such as but not limited to fire pumps, controllers, or piping.
A plan review will be required for fire alarm systems under the following conditions:
- When the fire alarm control panel is replaced
- If there is an addition of three or more devices on any loop/circuit
- If five or more devices are added, relocated, or replaced on the system
A plan review will be required for hood suppression systems under the following conditions:
- If appliance lineup changes
- Addition or relocation of nozzles
- If the system is relocated
- Addition of agent cylinders
A plan review will be required for special hazard systems under the following conditions:
- If there is any addition to the system
- If the system is relocated
