Brett Memorial Ice Arena Improvements

Scope

To design and construct priority code renovations, general building improvements, and ice systems improvements to the Brett Memorial Ice Arena.

Project Benefits

The Brett Memorial Ice Arena will receive a long list of needed improvements to include; a new roof, remodeled locker rooms, improved ventilation throughout the facility, new interior and exterior light fixtures and a high efficiency boiler. Lastly, the antiquated ice refrigeration system will be removed and replaced with an efficient CO2 refrigeration system.

Project Status

This project will provide major improvements to the Brett Memorial Ice Arena which is approximately thirty years old. The lead designer is Burkhart Croft and the general contractor if F-E Contracting. The Construction Phase is underway and the demolition of the ice rink slab is complete. Grading and compaction of the ice rink sub base is underway. Construction is anticipated to be complete by September 2018 in time for the 2018-2019 hockey season.

Project Cost

In October 2016, Mat-Su Borough voters approved a bond package that included $3,744,700 for improvements to the Brett Memorial Ice Arena.
