Districtwide Energy Upgrades (18 schools)

Scope

This project is expected to replace light fixtures, windows, door insulation, variable frequency motor drive controls, and modified computerized control systems as needed at the following schools: Big Lake Elementary Burchell High Cottonwood Creek Elementary Finger Lake Elementary Goose Bay Elementary Houston Middle Knik Elementary Larson Elementary Palmer Jr. Middle Pioneer Peak Elementary Shaw Elementary Sherrod Elementary Snowshoe Elementary Swanson Elementary Talkeetna Elementary Wasilla High Wasilla Middle Willow Elementary

Project Benefits

This project is to perform design of various energy upgrades at 18 different Borough schools. Upgrades may include window replacement, lighting system replacement as well as insulation or roof upgrades. Initial site assessments will include thermographic analyses at all 18 schools.

Project Status

This project upgraded lighting systems and new windows at multiple schools. Remaining work includes replacement of nearly all windows at Snowshoe, Pioneer Peak and Cottonwood Elementary Schools. A contract has been awarded and preliminary work has begun. Construction will be completed over summer of 2018.

Project Cost

The total project budget is $3,162,000. The State of Alaska will fund this project at a 70/30 split with the Borough.
