The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Office of History and Archaeology, has submitted a proposal under MSB 15.04.025—Naming Geographic Features to name a currently unnamed mountain peak Mount Carola. The peak is found in Denali National Park and Preserve between Ruth Glacier and Tokasitna Glacier, approximately 14 miles west of milepost 140 North Parks Highway.

The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing concerning the proposal on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Borough Assembly Chambers located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue in Palmer. This may be the only presentation of this item before the Planning Commission, and you are invited to attend.

Written comments are due on or before July 31, 2024, and will be included in the Planning Commission packet for the Commissioner’s review and information. Please note that comments received from the public after that date will not be included in the staff report but will be provided to the Commission at the meeting.
