The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (Borough) Land & Resource Management Division has received a request from the Matanuska Electric Association (MEA) for a public utility easement on Borough-owned land. The property is located between milepost 59 and milepost 60 of the Parks Highway (tax account 18N03W20B001). Currently there is an existing utility easement and powerline on the property. MEA needs to relocate a power pole to a new location. Alaska Oil & Gas Conversation Commission has an orphan well plugging and abandonment project in the right-of-way adjacent to the Borough property. The existing power pole is too close to the wells and needs to be moved. This property was acquired by the Borough for the Port MacKenzie Rail Extension.
